Sichuan Earthquake Relief
On May 12, 2008, a 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck Sichuan province, a mountainous region in Western China, killing about 70,000 people and leaving over 18,000 missing. Over 15 million people lived in the affected area, including almost 4 million in the city of Chengdu. CMIA worked closely with the leading Chongqing commercial real-estate company, Ying Li International, to provide assistance. In total, RMB10 million was donated towards earthquake relief efforts.
Building Schools in Putian
In 2006, CMIA donated RMB3 million in a dollar-for-dollar matching arrangement with the Putian City Government to build three primary schools (荔城区新溪小学, 莆田市城厢区东坡小学, 涵江区码头小学). The schools provide meaningful foundational education to the children of farmers in Putian and neighbouring farming regions.
Lakeside Family Centre
The Lakeside Family Centre is a charitable organisation in Singapore that provides counselling, financial assistance and development services to needy families, juvenile offenders and troubled youths. Lakeside's quality services are offered to beneficiaries regardless of race or religion. Through its two family service centres, Lakeside serves thousands of beneficiaries each year.
CMIA has been a sponsor of the Lakeside Family Centre's annual charity golf event.
FaithActs is established in 2004 as a community service agency to serve the needs of at-risks children, youths and families. FaithActs is a member of National Council of Social Services (NCSS) and Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS). FaithActs is also an IPC approved organisation. Our programmes and services impacted the residents of Tanglin Halt, Commonwealth and Queenstown areas. FaithActs is about changing lives. FaithActs meets community needs and address social problems in practical ways regardless of the client’s ethic, social-economic and religious backgrounds.
